AGENDA

Lead-up Week, September 20 - 24, 2021

You will have one week to get inspired, ideate and start designing your project in your team. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet and get feedback on your project from your industry mentor. Here are a few examples of  projects that could fit within the RE+ENGAGE (community building) theme:

  • Climate action: Initiatives to help combat climate change in the community. e.g. Wildfire prevention, proper recycling facilities, plastic reduction.

  • Social action: Homeless shelters, senior care homes, refugees

  • Connection: Platforms for communicating with people in your community, between schools and students, workplaces and employees.

  • Initiatives to help small and local businesses.

  • Mental health

The computer lab and ideation room will be available for Crofton students to meet and brainstorm during lunch and after school.

FAQ
What are some social issues around the world today?
What is an Innovation Challenge?
In the tech community, there are weekend events called hackathons. They allow programmers and designers to collaborate in small teams to create innovative solutions on a common theme. Our event doesn't require you be either. You will learn how to turn an idea into a solution.
What will we be making? Do you have to know how to code?
No programming experience required. Teams can choose to build a prototype of a physical product, mobile app, website and/or service-based business. All you need is a positive attitude, open mind and willingness to consider new ideas.
Can we choose our own teams?
Yes! You can join the event as a team or have the option to allow us to find you talented team members.
What should I wear?
Feel free to dress comfortably for this virtual event.
